Whiti-ki-te-ora is a Māori Heritage reconnection programme created by, and exclusive to Hoani
Waititi Marae “for rangatahi Māori, by rangatahi Māori” We work with youth aged from 15 – 18
years who are disconnected from their Māori heritage and have been referred to us through the
youth justice court by Oranga Tamariki. Our program supports their discovery of their Māori
Motuhake by use of Whakapapa, Tīkanga and Te Reo Māori. We also support them with career &
goal planning and independence while they are at this pivotal point in life transitioning from
teenager to adult using te āo Māori as their backbone.
