Tēnā koutou e te whānau, the Hoani Waititi Marae AGM last night was well attended with over 80 people turning up. It was the first time the Marae was able to host a AGM for 2 years. The opening Karakia by Novi Marikena reflected on those we have lost and reminded us of the proud legacy of the Marae and its kaupapa.
The financial and audited accounts were presented by Papa Phil Tane to be accepted and passed by the hui. John Tamihere made comment of how well the Marae was positioned financially especially after 2 years of Covid. John and Te Whānau o Waipareira were also acknowledged for the huge role they played in supporting our whānau in the west.
The main event of the evening was the election of the new Trustees. There were four candidates nominated

Tom Harris
Maria Pare Te Whiu
Gail Wilson
Eynon Delamere the board Chair thanked the nominees for putting their names forward, as the votes were counted. There was a clear majority with 2 of the nominees voted on as Trustees.
2 of the candidates drew with an equal number of votes and another vote needed to take place to determine the last Trustee. The decision was still close and once again we thank the nominees for putting their names forward.
