Hoani Waititi Marae was opened on

April 19 1980, its purpose is to provide a centre for Māori, language, culture and practice.

A place of learning that provides a Māori perspective on the world. Hoani Waititi Marae is named after Hoani Retimana Waititi, a descendant of Te Whānau-a-Apanui, Kauaetangohia. His legacy is honoured through the formation of a Kōhanga reo, Kura Kaupapa Maori and Whare Kura houses, Kapa Haka groups, Te Whare Tū Tauā o Aotearoa houses of Maori lore. The Marae complex itself is the result of goodwill by the community of west Auckland, schools and iwi from around the country and the world.

Pastoral Care Officer

We are excited to announce with the newly formed partnership between Hoani Waititi Marae Trust and New Zealand Management Academies LTD. With this opportunity a very special role has been created to support our students to achieve. We are on the hunt for a Pastoral Care Officer who will play a critical role in ensuring the success of the our students and new campus. This could be your opportunity to significantly change lives. Both domestic and international students often require additional support and advice to navigate through the challenges and barriers they may face outside of their studies, that impact their ability to successfully complete their qualification and/or gain sustainable employment. To ensure all students are provided with the best level of support during their time at NZMA, we are looking for someone to fill this integral role of NZMA Pastoral Care Officer. Applicants for the NZMA Trades West Head of Faculty are invited to send through their expression of interest to Tony.Atina@nzma.ac.nz by Thursday the 13th January. Interviews will take place the week of the 18th January.

The NZMA enrollment officer will be coming down to the Marae Monday 14th 9-3pm Wednesday 16th 9-3pm He/she will help with the online applications There is a numeracy & literacy test and an interview The numeracy/literacy test is to ascertain if any students need remedial help NZMA have a remedial programme. We also have talked to The Waitākere Adult literacy programme for any extra remedial help which is a free service.
